Have you ever noticed how a Jerry Can balloons outward after gasoline is stored inside it for a while? This is so because gasoline releases fumes which when in a sealed container, create pressure strong enough to push the sides out. The same thing happens in your cars’ fuel tank. EVAP stands for Evaporative Emissions; these are what you and I know as “gas fumes”.
